Winners of 2013 Youth Angling Card Artwork Contest

The judges have spoken, and this year's winner is Maggie Wang.  Maggie is 14 years old and a student at Glenlawn Collegiate in Winnipeg.  Her painting of a channel catfish will be on the cover of 40,000 Youth Angling Cards in 2013.  And she also wins $250 in cash and free fishing gear!  Second place was awarded to Braden Kopytko for his pencil and ink drawing "Bottom Feeder".  Braden is 13 years old and a student at Yellowquill School in Portage la Prairie.  Second place prize is $150 in cash and free fishing gear.  Third place was awarded to Andrew Zazulak of Winnipeg for his pencil crayon drawing of a channel catfish.  Andrew is 13 years old and a student at The King's School in Winnipeg.  Third place prize is $100 in cash and free fishing gear.

This was almost a record year, with over 100 entries from across Manitoba.  Thank you to our volunteer judges:  Barb Lysack (MB Conservation & Water Stewardship), Jerry Kruczek (President of Fish Futures), Todd Longley (City Cats Guiding Service), John Armitage (FFI Banquet Co-Chair), and Rob Cann (MB Conservation & Water Stewardship).  The Youth Angling Card is a program of Fish Futures Inc., in partnership with Manitoba Conservation & Water Stewardship, and with the support of the Fisheries Enhancement Fund.
