Youth Angling Art Contest!

 Swan Valley Regional High School

As part of  the Youth Angling Card Art contest Angling Educator Don Lamont visited four schools in the Swan River district to encourage youth to enter the contest which closes on December 31st of this year.
Since the contest has expanded to two age groups this year, Lamont visited both Taylor and Heyes Elementary schools to talk to Grade 4, 5 and 6 classes.

That same afternoon he spoke to the Art class and students of the Ecole Middle School. Some 50 students jammed into the art room to hear the presentation on lake trout, the species of choice for this year’s card.
 Heyes Students!
The next morning more than 80 students and staff crammed into the classroom of Envirothon teacher Mr. Rick Wowchuck at Swan Valley Regional Secondary School.. While Don talked about the rules of the art contest, he also covered environmental issues and stories related to his fishing experiences with lake trout and other species.
So if you haven’t made your mind up to paint a picture of a lake trout for this year’s contest, you’re missing out on a great opportunity. See the details below.
Special thanks to John Toone of Fish Futures and Dean Barteski along with Duane Whyte from Swan Valley Sport Fishing Enhancement for making this trip possible
